He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.

The Lord calls us to nature as a means to grant us peace. Camp Angelus is that place.

Camp Angelus at Round Hill

Our campground, offering over 100 acres situated on the majestic banks of the Chippewa River, has been home to Catholic settlements in one form or another since 1853. We seek to offer a refuge for those looking to re-center themselves around Christ and our Blessed Mother through nature, free from the distractions and comforts of daily life.

Prayer

Scattered throughout the campground are areas at which your group or family are inspired to pray.

Hiking

A variety of trails with varying degrees of difficulty are available for group hikes, prayer walks, and physical challenges.

Boating

On the grounds and in the local town of Durand, there are endless opportunities to launch your canoe or kayak.

Community

Between our barn, fire pits, and communal areas, your family or group will have ample areas to congregate.

Our Story

The La Crosse diocese purchased this ~100 acre plot of land under the direction of Bishop Burke with the express intent to preserve the historical nature of the early Catholic Church in this region. A plethora of historical records ties this land to early Catholic settlers. Now under the care of Round Hill Inc., it is managed by a non-profit board of directors who continue to improve and protect this land for Catholic pilgrims, campers, and conservationists.

Testimonials

I have been visiting Camp Angelus annually since 2016 with our group of approximately 60 boys and their fathers. We all enjoy the beauty of Camp Angelus's natural landscape; the feeling of solitude; and the rugged nature of this campground. We return to camp here every year!
Anthony from Milwaukee, WI
My family comes here more often than I care to admit. We visit this Catholic landmark as a way to re-center ourselves from the busyness of our lives, giving us the opportunity to enjoy one another in a peaceful setting. As avid canoers, this is the perfect spot to end our float.
Tom from Osceola, WI
Camp Angelus offers all of the activities that my family and I enjoy - most notably the options to hike along the various trails while praying the Rosary. We love the natural setting that encourages silence; the expansive area to explore; and the ancestral history of the grounds.
